HAPINEZZ
IS
HOMEMADE

An au pair is a fantastic support for your family. An au pair gives peace in the house and flexible support at the times when you need it. This gives you a well arranged household.

Au pair program

The au pair program is a cultural exchange program which is regulated by the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). A foreign candidate comes to The Netherlands to acquire knowledge about the Dutch culture and the society. In exchange for board and lodging the au pair helps you with taking care of your children and taking care of the light household chores. You can find additional information at Guidelines BONAPA.

An au pair candidate is between the age of 18 and 30 years old, she is from non-European countries and she stays with a Dutch host family for a maximum of 1 year. The au pair will become part of the family and will get her own room in the house of the host family. Our candidates are from South-Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Colombia, Ukraine and Moldova. Smiling Faces has its own establishments abroad and many partners/ agencies who recruit and select candidates.

The au pair cannot work more than 8 hours per day and 30 hours per week. The host family will provide her with a schedule. At Smiling Faces, the au pair will receive 320.00 EUR pocket money per month. Besides that, the host family pays for her airline ticket, insurances, Dutch language course and the Enjoy & Explore program.

The candidates from outside of the European Union can only come to the Netherlands when guided by a recognized agency (sponsor). The agency is responsible for, for example, the visa application. You can read additional information in the IND brochure about the au pair program. For more nice tips about the Dutch food and culture, take a look at the attachment The Dutch Culture.
